Looking back, was it just another year? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It wasn\u2019t for our players at Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS). The student-athletes took their football skills a notch higher and achieved significant feats in the state and national competitions. Let\u2019s look back at the tournaments in 2022 where our teams across India played exceptionally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Inter School Champions of Meghalaya – Reliance Foundation Youth Sports <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Our residential academy at the Assam Rifles Public School, Shillong, won the Meghalaya zone of Reliance Foundation Youth Sports tournament. The league was conducted in October and our team stayed unbeaten throughout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. Inter School Champions of Maharashtra – Subroto Cup <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Our boys at Barnes School & Junior College, Maharashtra, won the Maharashtra zone Subroto Cup championship in August, after which they qualified for the national round. The team fared exceptionally throughout the tournament beating heavyweight sides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Inter School Champions of Delhi NCR – Reliance Foundation Youth Sports <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Our residential academy team at Vedas International School, Sohna became the RFYS Inter School champions of Delhi NCR by winning all its matches. The team scored 9 goals throughout the tournament. The league started in October and ended in December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Inter-school Champions of Kerala – CBSE Cluster<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The knockout tournament happened in November, where our residential academy team at Peeves Public School, Kerala, played five matches and scored 12 goals in total. Throughout the tournament, Dev Saha was at the forefront, scoring in three games alongside Sravan, who scored a hat-trick in the final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. Champions of U-18 Thane Football League <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Our boys at Barnes School & Junior College, Maharashtra, became the champions of the Thane Football League by winning all the matches. The league saw reputed teams from the region vying for the title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
6. Champions of Group A of Hero U-17 Elite Youth Cup <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Garhwal Heroes Football Club (GHFC), the sister team of BBFS, topped Group A of the Hero U-17 Elite Youth Cup in December by winning all its matches. Most players were selected from the BBFS Residential Academies, and they displayed a great show on the pitch. The national\/final round will start from the 23rd of January 2023, which leads to the Indian football team age-group selections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
7. Runners Up of Delhi Premier League <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The Delhi Premier League, the top-tier football competition in Delhi, was conducted from July to October. Garhwal Heroes Football Club comprised three BBFS Residential Academy players – Hrivei Carlos Pao, Karthick Panicker, and Rohan Manar, and finished second amongst the 11 teams. GHFC won 11 matches, drew 6, and lost 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
8. Champions of the Himalayan Cup <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Garhwal Heroes Football Club (GHFC) added the latest feather to their cap by winning the Himalayan Cup. GHFC won the prestigious 12-team league-cum knockout tournament organized by the Uttarakhand State Football Association (USFA), winning all the matches. Eleven players from Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS) were selected for the squad of twenty. The players \u2013 Lionel, Aryan, Wanshwadame, Francis, Lalremmuana, Richie, Albert, Laishram, Ravi Thapa, Ravi Kumar, and Suraj \u2013 were in top form throughout the competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
9. Delhi team qualifies for Santosh Trophy final round led by BBFS graduates <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The Delhi senior men\u2019s football team qualified for the Santosh Trophy national round with BBFS players shining for the state. The Santosh Trophy is a national football championship played amongst the Indian state football associations. Mahip, Gaurav, Neeraj (Captain), Dhruv, Taranjeet, and Jaideep were the players from BBFS who played an integral part in their final round qualification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
